Maoist State Committee Secretary Madhav cremated amidst protests

Karimnagar, July 27, 2006

Heavy police was deployed and stopped neighboring villagers not to attend the funeral ceremony of slain Maoist State Secretary Madhav who died in an encounter. Amid protests especially from women, he was cremated in his brother's agricultural field in his native Mangapeta village of Kalwa Srirampur mandal on Thursday afternoon.

Emissaries of Maoists in the peace talks, Varavararao, Gaddar and Kalyan Rao and Madiga Dandora leader Manda Krishna and others visited the village and paid rich tributes to Madhav. They placed a red flag on the body of Madhav and raised slogans of 'Lal salaam'. During the funeral procession Gaddar sang revolutionary songs along with the Jana Natya Mandali cultural troupe denouncing the State Government for the encounter killings

As the villagers especially women in large number took out a rally against the police presence, the police left with no alternative to allow them to enter in the village to participate in the funeral function.
