Dowry harassment leads to suicide

A 27-year old women, Lavnya of Jainad in Adilabad district hanged her 14-month daughter and later hanged herself to death. Dowry harassment is believed to be ther reason for Lavanya to take the suicide step.

Lavanya was married three years ago and her father promised to give Rs. 50,000, a part of the dowry which he could not pay. Harassment from in-laws increased over the years and Lavanya, unable to bear any further of the harassment, took the extreme step.
