Asks to enforce International standards
Hyderabad, July 25, 2006
The Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Tuesday while reviewing the progress of irrigation projects insisted the engineers should enforce international standards mentioned in the agreements with contractors.
The Chief Minister said that quality control inspections of the construction by third parties wherever they were selected and if necessary, by Vigilance and Enforcement teams. Water would be taken to the filed by the Irrigation department while Horticulture department would install micro irrigation systems and a sump would be provided for every 100 acres. A pilot project would be grounded under AMR Canal in Nalgonda district.
The Chief Minister directed the officials to stick to deadlines for providing water to an additional ayacut of 7.5 lakh acres this kharif. Minister of Major Irrigation P Laksmaiah speaking to the reporters said that there might be delay of 60 days in respect of two or three projects. He said that top priority will be given to land acquisition for rehabilitating displaced families at the earliest and approved a proposal to fill vacancies in regular posts in the Irrigation Department.
