Home Minister rules out Judicial probe in encounter

Four bodies identified

Hyderabad, July 24, 2006

The Home Minister, K.Jana Reddy has rejected the demand of Gaddar for judicial probe in the Nallamala encounter in which eight naxals were killed including the State secretary Madhav on the ground that a magisterial inquiry is already on. He dismissed the allegation of Gaddar that the encounter is not a fake one. He reviewed the situation with top police officials and later speaking with the media that the Government would provide educational facilities of Madhavs son as well as a job if such a request came from their family. However, combing operations are going on.

The slain bodies are being brought to Markapur by a lorry on early Tuesday morning and will be handed over to the relatives after post mortem examination at Markapur. The police could identify the bodies of only four victims, Madhav, Syamala, Suseela and Viswanadham of Jana Natya Mandali, a frontal organization of the CPI (Maoist) so far. Inspector General of Police (Grey Hounds) Durgaprasad, IG of Guntur Range Satyanarayan, SP of Prakasam District N.Balasubramanyam and Officer on special duty, media persons and videographers flew in an helicopter from Markapur to the place of encounter. The police said that three constables sustained injuries during the encounter.

Meanwhile, the relatives of the slain naxals relatives meet the Home Minister and had an emotional meeting in his office. The Civil Liberties Leader KG Kannabhiran, revolutionary writer Varavararao, MRPS president Manda Krishna Madiga and others demanded that the post mortem of Madhavs body be conducted at Hyderabad which was turned down by the Home Minister.
