CM serious about recent incidents

Hyderabad, July 18, 2006

The Chief Minister Dr.YS Rajasekhara Reddy along with the Home Minister K.Jana Reddy and with top police officials reviewed on Tuesday on the factional violence the Rayalaseema region in the light of the recent killing of three Telugu Desam Party (TDP) activists. It is understood that the Chief Minister has pulled up top police officers for allowing the situation to go out of control in Anantapur district and asked the Director General of Police (DGP) Swaranjit Sen to prevent such occurrence.

Speaking to reporters, the Home Minister said that the Chief Minister also asked the police officials to conduct counselling for the families entangled in faction fights in the region apart from Preventive Detention Act. The meeting resolved to recruit 2000 men for Special Protection Force and 100 each for State Intelligence Bureau and for the Counter Intelligence wing.

It condemned the violent activities resorted to by Maoists in Chattisgarh. The Home Minister, K.Jana Reddy said that various investigations of the irregularities committed by various urban cooperative banks including Krushi bank had reached the final stage.
