Efforts are on to bring
Hyderabad, July 18, 2006The Museums and Archives Minister N.Rajyalakshmi said that the State Government will make efforts to get the rare manuscripts that the missionaries or their institutes have taken away from the State to London, Paris and other places. Revealing the details of the surveys conducted under the National Manuscript Mission to identify rare manuscripts, she said that the Government will digitize the manuscripts to preserve them for posterity.
Nearly 2.6 lakh manuscripts have been identified in the State by the Andhra Pradesh Oriental Manuscripts Library and Research Institute. The manuscripts are in Telugu, Persian, Arabic, Urdu, Hindi, Sanskrit, Kannada, Marathi, Oriya and Tamil. The Minister said that a special project will be commissioned to research the works of Vemana besides translating them into world languages.
