Anantapur, July 17, 2006

Three activists of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) were hacked to death on Monday by the supporters of the rival Congress in Bathalapalli mandal. Nine persons were believed to be severely injured. According to police, the attack took place when a dozen TDP activists were on the way back after filing nomination papers for Sarpanch post at Garisenepalli. The Congress supporters way laid and hurled bombs on the jeep in which they were traveling killing three people and injured nine persons

In another poll related incident, six TDP activists and a commoner were injured seriously when they were attacked by party's rival supporters during the filing nomination papers at Gorantla. A TDP man was beaten to death in Chilamkuru in Prakasam district.
