Congress bags 603 while TDP bags 337

Except stray incidents, the election of Mandal Parishad Presidents on Tuesday with an impressive performance of Congress and allies winning 737 mandal parishads. In some districts dissension among rival groups in parties led to postponement of elections due to quorum.
According to the State Election Commission (SEC) report, the 1017 MPPs, the Congress won 603 followed by TDP 337, CPI(M) and CPI 14 each, TRS 20, BSP 2, Independents 26 and BJP 1. Elections to 79 MPPs were not held. Congress nominees fared well in Chittoor, East Godavari, Guntur, Kadapa, Krishna, Kurnool, Mahaboobnagar, Medak, Nalgonda, Nellore, Nizamabad, Prakasam, Srikakulam, Visakhapatnam and Warangal districts while TDP bagged majority of MPPs in Adilabad, Anantapur, Ranga Reddy, West Godavari and Khammam.
