Kalachakra will do no harm for India-China relations - assures Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh
Guntur, January 9, 2006
The Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy said that by allowing Dalai Lama to conduct Kalachakra in Amaravathi, reiterating the Indian belief of allowing people to practice the religion of their choice. He denied the argument that permitting conduct of Kalachakra on a large scale would anger the Chinese Government straining Indo Chinese bilateral relations but we Dalai Lama came to India as a Tibetan refugee to preach the Buddhist ideology.
He said that the Government is only providing basic amenities to the people who have gathered in large numbers and are happy with the officials for having provided one of the best facilities in a such a short time. After consecrating the Dhyana Buddha at Dharanikota, laying foundation for Kalachakra Nagar on the outskirts of the town and taking blessings from the Dalai Lama at the main preaching site, the Chief Minister said that the Dalai Lama had not expected arrangements from the Government on a large scale. He promised to get a tourism office opened to promote tourism in the region.
