The Hyderabad police today arrested two persons and seized fake currency worth over Rs.36 lakhs. The arrested persons are Mohammed Shoukat Ali of Maida district in West Bengal and KV Satyanaryana Reddy of East Godavari district in the Andhra Pradesh.

Hyderabad, January 31, 2006

Two new centres for Greyhounds, the elite anti naxalite outfit, will be set up with headquarters at Visakhapatnam and either at Kadapa or Kurnool in order to meet the increasing challenge posed by extremist violence.

The Home Minister, K.Jana Reddy announced the same at a press conference after a review of the law and order situation by the Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy at a conference with the District Collectors and Superintendents of Polices on Tuesday. He said that the Greyhounds would be used not only for anti naxalite operations but also for tackling other crimes like faction fights. He said two battalions of the Andhra Pradesh Special Police had been set up at Anantapur and Khammam. He said that the AP Control of Organized Crime Act would be reviewed soon.
