Hyderabad, January 3, 2006

The Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy used the 93rd Indian Science Congress on Tuesday to showcase to the cream of India's scientific community the achievements of his Government in the areas of rural development and irrigation Sector. In his address, he said that his Government's 'Jala Yagnam' a mission to bring 65 lakh acres of land under cultivation by completing 31 irrigation projects would transform the State's rural economy while the Rajiv Internet Village would help farmers update themselves on the latest market tends. A new programme called 'Indiramma' would provide four development of model villages and towns he said.

The Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh is said to have expressed the view that he is counting on Andhra Pradesh in achieving the National Irrigation Mission's (NIM) target of bringing one crore hectares of land in the country under plough. The was stated by the Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy while speaking with media.
