Prime Minister pledges full support for Outer Ring Road

Foundation for Outer Ring Road laid

The Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh after laying foundation stone for Hyderabad Outer Ring Road addressing a huge public meeting at Shamshabad on Saturday pledges full support to the funding of the project. He announced if necessary funds from the Central Special Purpose Vehicle on infrastructure will be given to complete the project. Works in the first phase of the 162 km long eight lane ORR would begin in March 2008. Land acquitting is on for the second phase which is likely to be commissioned in December 2008. He villages in the country would have pucca roads in the next four years.

He wanted Hyderabad to exploit its strategic central location connecting the four corners of the country. It is a city of promise making rapid strides in various sectors. The Union Minister for Urban Development S.Jaipal Reddy said that the urban sector was subjected to gross neglect over the years. He assured that Hyderabad would receive liberal assistance from Centre and expressed Centre's willingness to finance radical roads as a part of ORR. The Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy said the development took a backseat during the last decade and the Congress Government was according due importance. The Governor, Sushi Kumar Shinde and other Ministers were present on the occasion.
