High Court directs Government to bring up awareness camp
Hyderabad, January 3, 2006The State Government on Tuesday was directed by a Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High Court to initiate awareness programme to inculcate the habit of using seat belts in cars and helmets by two wheeler drivers in the State. Authorities were asked to take steps to see that the seat belts and helmets were used from next month onwards.
It may be recalled that a letter written by PC Rao, Judge of the International Tribunal regarding failure of the traffic management was taken on record and treated as writ petition. The court felt that at this stage it was desirable that the seat belts for four wheelers and helmets for two wheelers be made compulsory without any delay and directed the Government to take necessary initiate to implement these orders.
