Rs.1 lakh crore alloted for development of basic facilities
Hyderabad, January 27, 2006Three cities each in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu have been selected for improvement in housing and infrastructure facilities like drinking water, sanitation and roads under the Rs.1 lakh crore ambitious scheme of Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission launched by the Centre recently. Out of 63 urban agglomerations identified for implementing the mission are Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh.
The Central Government will release its fifty per cent share towards the cost only after State Contributes the rest for any project taken up under the scheme. The Joint Secretary, M.Rajamani, Union Ministry of Urban Development told to the media at a national level meeting at MCR HRD Institute on Friday.
