Minister says Reservations have changed the lives of Muslims in Andhra Pradesh
Hyderabad, January 23, 2006The Information Minister Md.Ali Shabbir has urged the Centre to take steps to enable the Andhra Pradesh Government to implement five per cent quota for Muslims in education and employment. Speaking at the plenary on Monday, the Minister said that the reservations had changed the lives of hundreds of poor Muslim children who had managed to secure admissions into medical and engineering colleges in the State but the verdict of the Supreme Court against the reservations had come as a disappointment.
It was for the Congress Government at the Centre to take responsibility to see that Muslims were not left in lurch because of the Apex's court's ruling. He appealed d to Mrs. Sonia Gandhi to take a sympathetic view in this area.
