Padayatra to cover 1100 kilometers in 40 days

Guntur, January 20, 2006

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) Guntur unit will launch a 1100 km forty day padayatra 'Guntur Gantaravam' from Nagarjunasagar Project dam on Sunday to highlight the backwardness of the district in different mandals and elicit people's opinion. Party district unit secretary D.Rama Devi would lead the five member coreyatra team throughout the Yantra while local leaders would join them enroute. The party would compile all the issues that need immediate attention and send a document to the Government on priority of development activities to be taken up.

Covering about 30km a day, the progress of the padayatra along with the issues raised by the people at each place would be placed on the website along with photographs everyday, she said.
