Host gets ready for the 5-day Annual Science Event

Every thing is ready for the annual mega science event of the country, the 93rd Indian Science Congress to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh on Tuesday with Integrated rural development: Science and Technology as the focal theme. Nearly 6000 delegates from various parts of the country and 80 foreign participants from 29 countries would attend the five day congress which is being hosted by the Acharya NG Ranga Agricultural University.

Briefing the press after the inauguration of a media centre by Mines and Geology Minister P.Sabita Indra Reddy, Vice Chancellor S.Raghuvardhana Reddy said the Prime Minister would also give away the India Science Award an award carrying a prize of Rs.25 lakhs instituted by the Government for the first time. In addition to launching 'Mission 2007- Every Village - a knowledge centre', the President would also inaugurate the Children's Science Congress the same day involving the participation of over 700 delegates from different parts of the country. There would be about 10 public lecturers by experts and an estimated 1000 technical papers were likely to be presented during the five day event.
