Government revives NTR National Award

Awards to be distributed on Andhra Pradesh Formation Day

Hyderabad, January 18, 2006

The Government on Wednesday announced that the NTR National Award for the years 2003, 04, 05 would be given on Andhra Pradesh Formation Day. The Government directed the Information and Public Relations Commissioner to this effect.

Meanwhile, the Telugu Desam Party threatened to take on the Government on the issue of the award carrying a cash prize of Rs.5 lakhs and the Mr.Naidu made it clear that the party and NTR's family would give away the award if the Government did not respond. He addressed the party workers at a meeting convened to observe the tenth death anniversary of NTR.
