Plan to monitor and keep Kolleru Lake clean
Hyderabad, January 17, 2006
The Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy has directed the Cabinet Sub Committee on Kolleru restoration to create separate cells in Krishna and West Godavari districts to monitor the cleaning operation of Kolleru Lake. The cells headed by the officers of Deputy Collector rank should monitor the work round the clock and oversee the subsequent relief and rehabilitation measures for displaced families.
Officials are directed to ensure that people did not use the Government land for fishponds and allied activities and permit only traditional fishing. The Government had already initiated measures for constriction of two regulators across Uppeteru ad the tenders for the first regulator would be finalized before month end.
