Twenty policemen takes a narrow escape
Khammam, January 13, 2006Naxals triggered a series of landmine blasts targeting a Special Police Party (SPP) combing the Murmur village forests on Friday. Nearly twenty police personnel who participated in the operation had a narrow escape. The Superintendent of Police Rajeev Kumar Meena said five land mines were blasted as part of a major ambush plan.
He said that three dalams had a meeting in the forest and they had the landmines planted close to the meeting as a precaution. The police personnel, who found the spot vulnerable, swiftly moved out of the trap avoiding causalities. Police intensified combing in the forest area after the incident. An alert was sounded all over the district and thorough checking of major thoroughfares was undertaken.
