Guntur District administration gets ready to manage piligrims
Amravati, Guntur, January 13, 2006The Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy has directed the Guntur District administration to step up arrangements at Amaravathi to meet the increased inflow of pilgrims attending the Kalachakra festival. The District Collector, G.Jaya Lakshmi informed the Chief Minister that more than one lakh pilgrims were expected to converge on the last two days apart from the local visitors estimated to be around fifty thousand. The Medical and Health Department had established 15 First Aid Medical camps and 60 doctors and 370 Para medical staff have been deputed. She said that so far 15000 pilgrims had availed medicare.
The Panchayat Raj and Rural Water Supply department had constructed 3877 toilets. Three overhead reservoirs had been additionally supplying 3 lakh litres. The Power Distribution Corporation had ensured uninterrupted power supply by installing 39 transformers. The District Collector said that the police department had taken all measures for the smooth conduct of the event.
