Election Commission releases notification

The by-election to the Visakhapatnam I constituency will be held on February 16 according to a notification issued by the Election Commission. The vacancy was caused by the death of Dronamraju Satyanarayana. Electronic voting machines would be used in the poll.

According to a press released issued by the GAD said on Thursday that the poll notification would be issued on January 23 and the last date for filing of nominations would be January 30 and for withdrawal is February 2. The votes would be counted on February 19, 2006. The model code of conduct in the district came into effect on Thursday.
