Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation plans gas through pipelines

The Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation (RMC) has announced that they are contemplating to give its citizens gas through pipelines and consultations are on with the Gas Authority of India and Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). Speaking at a press conference on Sunday on the eve of the New Year, Mayor MS Chakravarti said that the ONGC had already planned to give cooking gas to its staff on trial basis through 3 to 4 inch pipeline and the Municipal Corporation had asked to supply the same with 6 inch pipeline for domestic consumption.
He said that financial institutions like the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) have come forward to extend funding of about Rs.80 crores and the Municipal Corporation had drafted a detailed programme for implementing the same.
