Kakinada begins its moves to get a SEZ
The process of land acquisition required for the Special Economic Zone (SEZ) has been set in motion with the issuing a draft notification a couple of days ago for some villages in U.Kothapalli mandal. Another notification is expected in a couple of days for Moolapet village also in the same mandal. The district administration has to complete the issuing of separate draft notifications for land acquisition by January 10, 2006 and to complete the declarations by the first week of February.
East Godavari, January 1, 2006Nearly 8200 acres would be acquired from Thondangi to K.Kothapalli mandal and only a few acres may be approximately around two hundred acres of private land in the vicinity of the pot in Kakinada and rural mandals would be taken. The Oil and Natural Gas Corporation is understood to have appointed Patham Vir singh as the special officer to acquire the lands by arbitration methods. Official sources reveal that many of the farmers were ready to accept Rs.3 lakhs as against the Government rate of Rs.12 lakhs offered by the ONGC.
