Global Events will boost the State development

State Government to project Hyderabad as center for Global Events

The Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy said that the State Government is fully prepared to utilize the forthcoming global events in Hyderabad to proper the State into a new sphere of development mode. In an open letter to the people on the eve of New Year Day, he said the President and the Prime Minister would be participating in prestigious events like the Indian Science Congress, Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas. He also lined up in the Asian Development Bank (ADB) annual general body meeting to be attended by Finance Ministers of 65 member countries.

He commented that the Opposition parties had first raised doubts about the irrigation projects. He reiterated the Government's commitment to continue free power. He expressed shock at the continued negative stance being adopted by the opposition parties. Mega industrial projects such as expansion of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant at a cost of Rs.8000 cores, setting up of HPCL's petrochemical complex and Jindal Group's aluminimum factory would spur growth and on IT front, he said 150 new companies have se up offices taking the total number to 1000. He said that the Birla Institute of Technology and Sciences (BITS) was likely to establish its prestigious institute in the State at a cost of Rs.200 crores and a team would tour the State on January 4, 2006.
