District Police alerts politicians to be careful
Warangal, February 4, 2006District police officials alerted politicians to take extra care in view of the threat from naxals during the Medaram Sammakka Sarakka jatara. Ministers and MLAs were asked not to disclose the details of their tours but keep the police informed about their movements. VIPs were asked not to stay I villages during nights. Advance information to the police would enable them to check all the culverts and arrange surety cover to the rural areas.
Police officials were deputing Counter Action Teams (CATs) personnel in plain clothes to move among the crowds. They will identify militants and neutralize them. Sniffer dogs and bomb squads will also be in place well in advance at the jatara site. As the Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy, several ministers, and other VIPs like TDP and TRS leaders are likely to visit Medaram, the police identified a helipad near the jatara site.
