Mixed response on the Union Budget

FAPCCI feels Government needs to address few items

Hyderabad, February 28, 2006

The Central Government\'s budget introduced by the Finance Minister evoked mixed response from the industry. The Confederation of Indian Industry, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry, Federation of Andhra Pradesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry and other welcomed the decision to curtail fiscal deficit to less than four percent and cut in excise duties on a wide range of items. They welcomed the move for upward revision for FII investment limits in corporate debt and Government securities.

While the Railway Budget had ignored the State, it was heartening that the Finance Minister made a mention of Hyderabad metro project in his budget speech. In the light of the significant growth being witnessed in the economy, the FAPCCI felt that the Government should have made efforts to fillip to the growth.
