Fishpond owners agrees to withdraw from Kolleru lake

Asks time till March 3

Hyderabad, February 23, 2006

In a significant breakthrough in Operation Kolleru on Thursday, over 30 big leaseholders each owning fishponds of more than 100 acres gave separate written undertakings to the Krishna District Administration that they would vacate the lake before March 3.

At a meeting, Joint Collector, S.Suresh Kumar agreed to allow the leaseholders to collect fish and take away their belongings till March 3.
