Venugopalachary gets six months jail and fine

Adilabad, February 22, 2006

Telugu Desam Party's (TDP) spokesman and former Adilabad MP S.Venugopalacharay was sentenced on Wednesday to six months' imprisonment and fined Rs.500 by both Judicial First Class Magistrate M.Johnson in a case relating to slapping of a police head constable.

The complaint was filed on March 5, 1999 by a head constable of Boath police station. He is also facing two other cases which were lodged in 1993 relates to an allegation of heating applicants for jobs in Nirmal Mahila Pranganam and the second ase under SC,ST Prevention of Atrocities Act is pending before the AP High Court.
