SI rushed to hospital
Rajahmundry - East Godavari, February 21, 2006Revenue staff in East Godavari district struck work protesting against the assault on Gokavaram MRO D. Baburao by the followers of Jaggampet MLA Thota Venkata Narasimham right I the premises of Gokavaram police station. They demanded action against those responsible for the attack and submitted a memorandum to the Sub Collector at Rajahmundry and the District Revenue Officer in Kakinada. According to reports, the MLA called the MRO to the Gokavaram police station at 10.30pm to discuss seizure of some sand laden tractor trolleys belonging to Congress leaders. The vehicles were seized at Kamarajupeta in the mandal three days back.
However, the MRO expressed his inability as the matter already gone to the notice of higher ups. As he was coming out of the station, nearly 30 persons pouched on him and kicked him. Even as the SI went to the rescue, he developed chest pain and was rushed to GSL Hospital in Rajanagaram. The District Collector Praveen Prakash, SP V Naveenchand, Sub Collector visited the hospital. The District Collector assured the revenue employees' association leaders that stern action will be taken against those responsible.
