Padayatra held for 24 days
Adilabad, February 20, 2006
The 24-day padayatra by a host of Telugu Desam Party leaders from Telangana demanding utilization of Godavari waters for the development of the region ended in a public meeting at the Nizam College grounds on Monday evening.
Party president, N.Chandrababu Naidu who was away in Switzerland when the yatra commenced from Mancherial in Adilabad district on January 28, received the leaders who footed out the 456 km journey through seven districts. The party president said that the TDP wanted Pranahita-Chevella link, the focuses of the yatra in the vent of Itchampally project being a non starter due to Inter-State problems.
