NREGS Scheme launched

Women of various Self-Help Groups (SHG) from 13 districts in which the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (NREGS) is being implemented in the State and a few Sarpanches had a lively interaction with the Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson Ms. Sonia Gandhi on Thursday.
In an interaction session arranged with the visiting dignitaries after the launch of NREGS, members of village organizations explained about their structure, activity and functioning, the publicity being given by them for the new wage employment scheme among others. The Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy explained about the 25-paisa interest rate scheme to the SHGs on prompt repayment and suggested that it be implemented in the entire country. Later, they participated in gram sabha in which villagers explained their needs and works to be taken up.
