Majlis leaders surrenders before police
Hyderabad, February 19, 2006Four Majlis leaders including MP Asaduddin Owaisi surrendered before the South Zone DCP Sandeep Shandilya on Sunday following booking of cases against them in connection with Friday's violent incidents at Charminar. All four have been remanded to judicial custody till March 3 and shifted to Cherlapally Jail.
Rapid Action Force (RAF) was deployed in strength at the South Zone DCP office at Purani Haveli where Majlis workers gathered in large numbers well before the leaders came up. Speaking to the media, Mr.Owaisi accused the police of acting under BJP pressure. And they are victimized for not their fault. He condemned the incidents of arson and demanded action against the guilty. The RAF took up patrolling in the sensitive areas in the old city and it is a tough time for the police to take him to produce before the Magistrate.
