No development for the prestigious institutions
Rajahmundry - East Godavari, February 14, 2006The educational institution, nurtured dearly by eminent social reformer Kandukuri Veeresalingm Pantulu is now crumbling, impelling not just a Century's heritage of the greatest social reform movement in the State but also safety of the teaches are the taught. Fifteen months ago, Chief Minister, YS Rajasekhara Reddy laid a foundation stone for construction of a new building and taking up repairs to the old structure of Veeresalingm Theistic Junior College at a cost of Rs.2 crores.
There is absolute silence on the construction and no action has been taken in this direction. The institution started in 1907 as a high school was upgraded to junior college in 1970 and the Government has sanctioned aid in 1977. Presently 707 students hailing form 29 nearby villages are studying in the institution. Meanwhile, the principal S.Satyanarayana has prohibited students from strolling on the crumbling roadside veranda as a precautionary measure. The entrance has been closed with iron mesh. Meanwhile, Rajahmundry MLA Routhu Suryaprakasa Rao has promised to sanction Rs.5 lakhs for immediate repairs.
