Police arrested three persons involved

On Friday, the Anti Goonda squad of the city police busted a racket in the sale of human organs. They arrested three persons including two lab attenders working in the mortuary of Government General Hospital on the charge of selling organs cut out from the bodies which were sent to the mortuary for post morteum.
On a tip off, the police sent a decoy to the mortuary who negotiated a deal for the purchase of a kidney for Rs. 700. The police swung into action and apprehended the gang members when they were accepting the money from the decoy after purchasing the organ in a plastic bag.
The City Police Commissioner, CV Anand speaking to media said that the primary investigation revealed that the selling of organs was going on in the city for the past ten years and management of private medical colleges was buying them. He commented that this is the first of its kind in the State and never come such a case so far. Cases were booked against the accused under various sections.
