Barely a day after Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy said that the Congress was prepared to go it alone in the next elections, APCC President D Srinivas, on his part, came up with a statement that the door of the party are always open to all opposition parties except the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Bharateeya Janatha Party (BJP).

Hyderabad, December 7, 2006

The Minister for Sports, M. Satyanarayana Rao tendered resignation to Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy on Thursday owing his moral responsibility for the Congress defeat in Karimnagar by elections. In a letter addressed to the Chief Minister, he stated that he had no right to continue in the Cabinet after the defeat of the Congress candidate. However, the Chief Minister had not commented any thing on the resignation except that he had received the letter.

In this connection, it may be recalled that MSR landed into a controversy by picking up a row with a TRS leader during his campaign.
