Hyderabad, December 4, 2006Koneru Humpy won the gold medal in the women's rapid chess event at the Asian Games in Doha on Monday and she beat Dana Aketayeva of Kazakhastan in the ninth and final round. Her wins gives India its first gold medal in the 15th Asian Games. China's Zhao Xue finished in the second round itself.
Eminent sports personalities, fans and family members of Koneru Humpy expressed happiness at her winning the Gold Medal.
