Concern over fall in standards in higher education

Vijayawada, December 4, 2006

The Union Ministry of Human Resources Development had asked the State Government to take necessary steps by filling teacher posts on regular basis and asked the government to check the falling standards in universities and colleges. Sudeep Banerjee, Education Secretary, Government of India shot off a letter to the Chief Secretary expressing concern in this direction. He deplored the fact that teachers taken on contract, low salaries and adhoc basis were impacting quality of education adversely.
