Station House Officer placed under suspension
Vijayawada, December 30, 2006A Radhakrisna, a constable working in One Town police station was placed under suspension and arrested on charges of raping a suspect sheeter in the police station. He brought a woman, a known suspect sheeter to the police station who was wanted in seven cases.
On Saturday morning, the woman complained that the constable has raped her. The Commissioner of Police CV Anand and West Zone ACP L. Vijayakumar immediately rushed to the spot and placed him under suspension. The Commissioner also suspended the Station House Officer Bhaskara Rao for not adhering to the standing instructions’ that no women should be detained in the lock up during night’. He said that necessary disciplinary action would be taken basing on the inquiry report.
The Commissioner in a press meet said that the incident was a clear case of poor policing and hence stern action was initiated. The woman was sent to the Government hospital for medical examination.
