Hyderabad, December 30, 2006The Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy inaugurated a meet on ‘Telugu Bhasha Chaitanyostavam’ organized by the Telugu Association of North America (TANA) on Saturday.
Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy felicitated C Dharma Rao and presented the ‘Gidugu Ramamurthy Award’ to him. The award carried a memento and Rs. 50,000 cash. TANA conducted state level competitions to teachers and students. The Chief Minister expressed the hope that Telugu would be accorded classical language status soon and the Government is keenly pursuing the issue with the Central Government following an unanimous resolution by the Assembly. The Minister for Finance K. Rosaiah, TANA president B. Hanumaiah, Dr. C Narayana Reddy spoke on the occasion.
