Karimnagar, December 25, 2006

The famous Sri Raja Rajeswari Swamy Devasthanam, Vemulawada is going to sport a golden look shortly, as the main gopuram of the temple will be covered with gold sheet. Vemulawada is considered as the Benarus of South India as it attracts lakhs of devotees of Lord Shiva from the State and other places of the country.

The decision to this effect was taken at a Temple Board Committee meeting held recently. The committee has decided to cover the Vimana Gopuram (main gopuram) using 24 kgs of gold at a cost of Rs. 2.4 crores. The TTD authorities will look after the execution of the gold plating and covering work and the Committee has also decided to make elaborate arrangements for the Maha Sivaratri celebrations.
