Demand for nine-hour power supply

Hyderabad, December 25, 2006

Farmers across the State are mounting pressure on the State Government for uninterrupted nine-hour power supply. The farmers in a local school building locked up power officials who went to Allepur village in Medak district on bill collection duty for five hours. The ryots who are demanding nine hours power supply freed the officials after the intervention of the higher ups. Similarly situation prevailed at Venkatapuram of the same district where the farmers resorted to a dharna opposite a sub-station.

Officials assured only seven-hour power supply as an Assistant Engineer and other officials were gheroed for two hours in Govindapuram in Medipally mandal and staged a dharna. In Adilabad district, farmers besieged the sub station and later staged Rasta roko. TDP legislature Party Deputy Leader N. Janardhana Reddy along with farmers staged a dharna infornt of Peddakttapally sub station.
