Chief Minister releases Profile of Higher Education of Andhra Pradesh 2006

Aims at brining one University in each district

Hyderabad, December 23, 2006

The Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy releasing the Profile of Higher Education of Andhra Pradesh 2006 that was brought by the AP State Council of Higher Education, directed the officials to work out the modalities of establishing atleast one university in each district. He said that there was need for more universities to ensure that all could access higher education.

He directed the officials to take necessary steps to upgrade the quality of engineering education in the State to tap the large number of employment opportunities in the IT and ITES sectors. Various initiatives like Campus Placement Mission, Jawahar Knowledge Centre, Institute of Service Management and Career Awareness and Recruitment Drives should be brought under one roof.

Council Chairman KC Reddy said details of opportunities available for the courses were included in the profile. The Minister for Higher Education P. Venkateswara Rao and Vice Chancellors of Universities participated in the occasion.
