Chief Minister appeals to surrender of illegal lands

9 lakh acres of illegally owned lands will be resumed

Hyderabad, December 16, 2006

The Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy has called upon persons who are in possession of estimated 9 lakh acres of assigned and surplus land to the Government before it steps in. He said that those who are enjoying such lands should come forward and surrender the lands. Sources close to the Chief Minister reveals that he held a meeting with the senior officials of Land Administration Department wherein it has been decided to resume nine lakh acres land and distribute them to the landless poor in the next three years.

A separate cell will be created in the Commissionerate of Land Ceiling and Acquisition. Separate cells will be created in each district and the implementation will be reviewed in a month for resumption and distribution of the lands.
