Opposition stalls proceedings
Hyderabad, December 13, 2006The Assembly has not transacted any business as the Opposition parties stalled the proceedings demanding admission of their adjournment motions seeking debate on the surrender of surplus land by the Chief Minister, Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy. The members of the TDP, TRS and CPI (M) raised slogans demanding a debate on the land issue. The three parties along with CPI and BJP tabled adjournment motions claiming that the Chief Minister held 618 acres in contravention of the law.
The Speaker K. Suresh Reddy convened a meeting in bid to break the impasse. However, similar situation prevailed again. Meanwhile, the Minister for Finance, K. Rosaiah offered the Government's willingness for a debate and urged the Speaker to allot time. The TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu along with other party leaders demanded the resignation of the Chief Minister.
