Appeal posted for December 26 for final hearing

The High Court Justice T. Gopalakrishna on Tuesday dismissed the bail application filed along with the criminal appeal preferred by Monica Bedi who was convicted in a fake passport case. The Judge dismissed the bail application on the ground that the petitioner was brought to India after a long drawn legal battle with Portugal. Even if Monica was granted bail, she still required to be in prison in connection with another case in Bhopal.
He posted the criminal appeal to December 26, 2006 for final hearing. He observed that the petitioner had raised several constitutional questions regarding her trial and conviction by a special court for CBI cases in the city. Those questions can be answered at the time of final hearing of the appeal, he said.
