MSR decides to resign owing moral responsibility for debacle in Karimnagar elections

Hyderabad, December 10, 2006

The Minister for Sports and Culture, M Satyanarayana Rao who sent his resignation papers to the Chief Minister on December 7, 2006 owing moral responsibility for the debacle in Karimnagar Lok Sabha elections was accepted by the Governor. The Chief Minister Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy who tried to convince him to withdraw the resignation failed and thus has forwarded the resignation for the approval of the Governor.

He commented that the real dram of the people of Telangana to have a separate Statehood would be realized only under the Congress rule and further added that people should await AICC president Sonia Gandhi's decision. According to him, the people voted for Telangana but not for K Chandrasekhara Rao. He said that he would continue to serve the party in the Assembly.
