Lok Satta emerges as a Political Party

Party to be free from caste barriers - To launch on October 1

Hyderabad, August 9, 2006

The new political party Lok Satta will be formally launched on October 1. The party is being launched by the National Convener of Lok Satta Jayaprakash Narayan. An IAS officer, Jayaprakash quit the service 1996 and floated an NGO, Lok Satta which has been working in the area of electoral and democratic reforms.

Speaking at the launch of the political party, he said that his party would give a new definition and create a 'new political culture' in the State. He accused the existing political parties of influencing voters with money, muscle and liquor power while his party will fight the elections within the frame work of the Constitution.

He said that the main priorities of the party are to give health care and education to every citizen solving the problems of farmers and women and free from caste barriers and family era in politics. Preparatory meetings would be held in all the districts from August 16 to September 22 to enroll members. Priority would be given to infuse new blood. He commented that good persons remaining silent on the evils in politics is more dangerous than the misdeeds of bad persons. He is a member of the National Advisory Council (NAC) said that the Lok Satta would extend the operations to other states and will be in touch with like minded persons.
