To undertake aerial survey in the region

Hyderabad, August 8, 2006

United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Chairperson and Congress Party President Sonia Gandhi will be arriving at Vijayawada on Wednesday morning on a seven-hour visit to the flood affected areas. She will be accompanied by the Union Minister for Home, Shivraj Patil.

Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Dr. YS Rajasekhara Reddy speaking to media said that Ms. Sonia Gandhi would land at Gannavaram Airport at 10.20 AM by a chartered flight from Delhi and will later undertake an aerial survey of the affected areas in East Godavari district. She will stop at Amalapuram to interact with the flood victims and leave at 12.15 Noon on an aerial survey in East and West Godavari districts.

Ms. Gandhi will interact with the affected families in Bhadrchalam from 1 PM to 2 PM and leave at 2.30 PM for Hyderabad. She will return to Delhi at 5.30 PM according to official sources.
