APSRTC to introduce CNG run buses

It is the first transport utility in S.India

Hyderabad, August 6, 2006

The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will be the first to transport utility in South India to introduce CNG run buses. The fist batch of thsoe buses would possibly roll onthe roads of Vijayawada by September. The Corporation plans to introduce 100 such buses in a phased manner.

The APSRTC has entered into an agreement with Bhagyanagar Gas Limited (BGL) forsupply of CNG on Sunday. The Vice Chairman and Managing Director of APSRTC MV Krishna Rao and BGL General Manager CK Trivedi signed the agreement in the presence of Minister for Transport K.Lakshminarayana.

The aim is to promote and market eco-friendly fuels like CNG AND AUTO LPG to reduce vehicular pollution in various cities in the State. The BGL also operates four auto LPG stations, three in Hyderabad and one in Tirupati.
